An open-world RPG inspired by TES III: Morrowind, featuring non-linear quests and co-op support, has been released on Steam

News 1

In August, NerveLabs studio released The Lantern of the Laughless Saint on PC via Steam in “early access” format. The new title is positioned as a role-playing game inspired by The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, which can be played not only solo but also in co-op mode with friends.

According to the plot, in The Lantern of the Laughless Saint, “madmen, drawn by shared nightmares,” travel to a remote island where a huge tower is located. Players will gradually explore and discover the open world:

Somewhere deep within lies a theater with an empty stage, awaiting an audience. As you mend or shatter the lives of the island's inhabitants, the ghosts they leave behind take their seats in the auditorium. The more seats you fill, the more attentively the island will listen, and the louder the applause for your final act.

The developers noted that players will encounter many “quirky characters” and most quests have multiple resolution options (mercy, violence, deception, compromise).

The Lantern of the Laughless Saint's page on Steam is available at the following link. Initial reviews of the game are “very positive,” with an 86% rating after several hundred reviews. The developers expect the project to remain in early access for less than a year.
