No Anakin? Star Wars: Galactic Racer Developers Finally Explain Decision

The head of Fuse Games explained that Anakin Skywalker will not be in Star Wars: Galactic Racer at launch due to adherence to canon.

Fuse Games head Matt Webster explained why one of the saga's most famous heroes will not appear in the game at launch. However, he did not rule out his appearance in the future.

In an interview, Webster noted that the developers want to strictly adhere to canon. The game takes place after the original trilogy, so the main modes only feature characters who are alive during this period according to official chronology.

The studio also does not intend to literally repeat the events of the films. For example, the developers use the "Boonta Eve Classic" pod races from "The Phantom Menace" only as inspiration, since its outcome is already known from canon.

When asked about the possible addition of Anakin after release, Webster replied, "Who knows where that will lead us?" He added that the release will only be the beginning of the game's development, and regular new content releases are planned after launch.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer will be released on October 6, 2026, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
