Well, don't buy it: CDPR responded with a meme to The Witcher 4 criticism and was criticized itself

Recently, CD Projekt RED decided to remind players about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The developers posted a fragment of a scene with Geralt and Ciri on social media.

A user under the nickname rohans62 noticed the post and expressed disdain for the upcoming game in the franchise: "The Witcher 3 is great. I won't buy The Witcher 4."

A representative of CD Projekt RED did not remain silent and responded to the player's phrase about "not buying" the game with a well-known meme:

Not all fans of "The Witcher" appreciated this gesture. BakeNLikeJake urged the developers to stop doing this:

Seriously, guys, stop it... Stop insulting your own players and show some respect – we're not in elementary school. Next time, just say: "Hey, we might surprise you. Give Ciri a chance – and in the end, you might like her as much as Geralt...". Oh, for crying out loud.

Another participant in the discussion asked CD Projekt RED:

Is it really that hard to say something like: "Please try it, we might surprise you"? Why are you pushing away potential buyers?

Truth speller expressed doubt that a female protagonist in The Witcher 4 is a good idea:

Turning the franchise from a male into a "feminist power fantasy" does not look like a successful long-term strategy. It didn't work out too well for your Netflix series. The same can be said for Star Wars, The Last of Us, The Lord of the Rings, The Wheel of Time, Doctor Who, Star Trek, etc. Let's see what comes of it.

Currently, CD Projekt RED is working not only on The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, but also, in collaboration with Fool's Theory, developing an expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt called Songs of the Past.
