Hideo Kojima's games (Metal Gear Solid) continue to attract the attention of players and enthusiasts decades later. Recently, a modder under the nickname Felipe returned to the cult classic Metal Gear Solid (1998) and decided to offer a new way to play the classic.
He published a trailer for the alpha version of the modification, which will allow playing Metal Gear Solid in co-op mode with friends:
In the comments to the video, Felipe published "answers to frequently asked questions" and clarified some points.
There will be no "shared camera" in co-op mode — from a technical point of view, the Metal Gear Solid mod works like a regular online game, i.e., each participant has their own game session and camera.
The modder does not yet plan to adapt cutscenes for co-op, as there is a high risk of breaking the game:
This game is very easy to break, so changes to cutscenes can lead to conflicts. Some cutscenes are also used for transitions, loading locations, or the appearance of certain bosses, so I'm not yet sure how freely they can be changed.
If desired, players will be able to increase the health of bosses so that the co-op battle is not too easy. The modder will also "try" to increase the number of enemies that arrive as reinforcements.
