GTA VI Publisher's Value Plunges by Nearly $3 Billion Due to Leaks - Hackers Attempt to Identify Culprit

News 0

Recently, various leaks of Grand Theft Auto VI have been actively published online. Players had the opportunity to see some content and various gameplay mechanics. Judging by the appearance and incoming reports, this is an early version, meaning that in the actual game, everything could be different and better.

The incident affected the stock price of Grand Theft Auto VI's publisher. The market reacted with a decline. Until recently, Take-Two's securities traded at $248.13 per share, but after the leaks appeared, it dropped to $232.84. A drop of $15.29 per share might seem small, but if you recalculate this to market capitalization, it amounts to a decline of $2.83 billion — in just a few days.

It is obvious that lawyers (and others) are now hunting for the author of the leaks. Internet sleuths believe they have found a lead on Cyberleek. Archival messages were found online, where the author under the nickname "cyberleek" wrote in 2018 that he was "25 to 30 years old" and interested in security testing, working as a system administrator. Apparently, the hacker's IP addresses were found — they belong to the Hetzner provider from Germany.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19 this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Rockstar Games and Take-Two have not yet announced the release date or release window for the PC version of the game.
