The action unfolds in a world where a conflict rages between the Oni race and the Genma demons. Monsters infiltrate the human world through a mysterious portal, threatening all of humanity. To stop the invasion, the Oni choose a warrior and bestow upon him the mighty Oni Gauntlet.
The trailer shows that the artifact will evolve as the game progresses. Defeated enemies leave behind souls that will allow players to unlock new abilities and fight stronger opponents.
Capcom also showcased dynamic sword battles and Oni abilities. The game will retain the linear structure of previous installments but will feature larger locations and more freedom of exploration.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword will be released on September 4, 2026, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
