During the debut demonstration of The Duskbloods, many players, before the project's name was announced, immediately thought of FromSoftware's return to Bloodborne with a new expansion or a full-fledged sequel. However, this is a completely different game that will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 console.
The different name of The Duskbloods, its genre, and platform did not prevent the flood of fan theories: there is a fragment with "blood" – so some stubbornly try to find a connection with Bloodborne and regularly ask the developers about it.
Recently, during a conversation with Inven Global, FromSoftware boss Hidetaka Miyazaki admitted that he expected such questions (about the connection with Bloodborne), but there were so many of them that the studio began to regret the choice of name:
I expected this question, but this game is in no way related to Bloodborne. To be honest, we are asked this question so often that I almost regretted including the word "Blood" in the title [The Duskbloods]. There are only separate similar terms and concepts – but the themes are completely different.
This month, players will have the opportunity to explore The Duskbloods on Nintendo Switch 2 as part of a network test. Miyazaki noted that the lore will be better revealed in the release version of the project, and the difference will be more obvious:
Not much of the world's lore [of The Duskbloods] is revealed in this network test, so it may be difficult to feel the differences. However, in the commercial version [official release], much more of the world's lore will be revealed, and I think by then people will understand that these are two completely different games.
