It turns out the Gothic Scavenger's cry is almost 80 years old

The world of Gothic is inhabited by various creatures, and some players vividly remember the specific cry of the Scavenger. However, this is not a unique sound; it can be heard in completely different projects.

A member of the Gothic community under the nickname nukEd8 said that he recently watched "Mulan" with his girlfriend and heard a characteristic sound that transported him "back to childhood memories of Gothic."

After that, nukEd8 decided to conduct a small investigation and found the origins of this sound – it turned out to be very old:

This sound was first used in the cartoon Each Dawn I Crow in 1949; most likely, it was a vocal effect created by Mel Blanc. This just blew my mind.

Mel Blanc is known to many for his roles as Bugs Bunny, Speedy Gonzales, and Porky Pig.

A similar investigation into the origin of the scavenger's cry was attempted a few years ago by another Gothic fan under the nickname RyhonPL. He also noticed that this sound was used in several projects.

Trying to find the original source, he downloaded several sound libraries, such as "Warner Bros. Sound Effects Library," "Lucasfilm Sound Effects Library - LF01 Animal Sounds," and "Sound Ideas Series 4000 Hollywood Sound Effects Library."

Then he found the sound that the scavenger makes while eating, as well as several animal sounds and male screams, the sound effect of opening gates, and environmental sounds.
