Tides of Annihilation Developers Respond to Accusations of "Degrading" Heroine's Face

The developers stated that they did not change the model of the main character Gwen, and the differences in appearance are due to improved skin rendering, materials, lighting, and new facial animations.

After the gameplay of Tides of Annihilation was published on social media, users noticed changes in Gwen's appearance and claimed that her model had allegedly been "degraded."

The developers responded:

To be absolutely clear, we have not changed Gwen's character model, and her model remains the same since the game's first reveal. From the very beginning of the project, we wanted to create a heroine that combines Eastern and Western aesthetics, and this approach has not changed.

The studio clarified that they improved skin rendering and clothing materials, added new outfits, and adjusted the lighting. They also recently implemented "new facial technology," which may have caused some facial expressions to change.
