The Last of Us Part II never received official multiplayer, but with the release of the remaster on PC, everything has changed. Speclizer is currently developing an online mode and recently published a new dev diary.
If nothing changes, players will soon be able to try out the first public version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered multiplayer on PC. The modder said that he managed to implement matchmaking, meaning players won't have to configure the network: they will start a search, just like in any other online game, and the system will look for other players.
Players will be able to customize their loadout – choose several weapons and equip three skills. For example, headshots can restore health, and there's also a skill that speeds up the use of medkits.
The release of the public version of multiplayer for The Last of Us Part II Remastered is scheduled for September 2026. Speclizer has not yet announced a specific release date. The current version of the project includes five maps: School, Seraphite Camp; Resort; Gas Station; Houses. The modder plans to add several more locations soon.
