Hideki Hayakawa, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, stated that the return of major franchises remains one of the key elements of the company's strategy. In an interview with Nikkei Gaming, he called the reboots of these series "important initiatives that are pillars of the company's activities." At the same time, Konami is also working on new brands and projects.
The publisher already has a busy schedule. This year will see the release of Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, development continues on the mobile game Suikoden STAR LEAP, and the RPG Rev. NOiR is also in preparation.
The mention of Metal Gear Solid is of particular interest. It is unclear whether Hayakawa was referring only to remakes or hinting at new games in the series. It seems Konami is not going to abandon the franchise after the remake's release.
