This summer, Valve celebrated its 30th anniversary. Some players expected the company to finally announce a Half-Life with the number "3" in its title, but nothing of the sort has happened yet.
However, the company unexpectedly remembered the Half-Life Deathmatch: Source project, which was introduced a couple of decades ago. Valve announced the release of a small update – it's purely a technical patch, it doesn't add new content to the game:
- Improvements to game security and stability.
- Fixed a bug that caused game assets to fail to load on some custom maps when playing on Linux devices.
Players who noticed the update for Half-Life Deathmatch: Source have one single question (in various forms): "Where's my Half-Life 3?".
In addition, an update was released for Valve's more recent game – Counter-Strike 2 also received a patch. As with Half-Life Deathmatch, this is a technical update: the developers added several objects and options related to map scripts. No content was added to the game.
