After the game demonstration, recorded on a regular PS5, the performance issue was once again in the spotlight. YouTube blogger Davy Jones visited Rockstar North and spoke with Rob Nelson, Head of Development and Co-President of the studio.
According to Flow Games, Nelson confirmed the current state of the game:
At this stage of development, consoles run the game at 30 frames per second.
He added that he needs to discuss with the technical team whether 60 FPS will appear at launch or later. Rockstar has not yet disclosed resolution, ray tracing, and other technical details.
Optimization is still ongoing, so 30 FPS will not necessarily be the final limitation. At the same time, neither 60 nor 40 FPS for 120 Hz screens has been confirmed for the PS5 Pro yet. The situation on PC will clearly be different, although the version for this platform has not yet been announced.
