The Resident Evil 4 remake, released in 2023, pleasantly surprised players. Capcom's project received "overwhelmingly positive" reviews on PC in Steam — a 97% rating after more than 10 thousand reviews. However, not all of the developers' ideas made it to the release version, and some wished to bring them back.
Dataminers noticed that the Resident Evil 4 remake originally planned more segments dedicated to Ashley Graham. For example, they managed to find traces of a rejected prologue chapter in which the heroine was supposed to escape from pursuers. These events chronologically took place the night before the arrival of the main character, Leon Kennedy.
Capcom never completed this episode, but a modder took on the task. The project was codenamed Chapter 0 (or "Chapter 0"): the existing game assets were sufficient to create a playable version of the cut prologue.
In Chapter 0, Ashley doesn't use a standard flashlight; instead, a smartphone serves as the light source: the heroine moves through the village at night and sees eerie things.
