Helldivers 2 Creator Glad GTA VI Isn't Coming to PC Yet and Won't Have New GTA Online at Launch

Rockstar Games' new title won't take away the PC audience from the co-op shooter.

The release of the console versions of Grand Theft Auto VI is approaching. The PC version of the upcoming Rockstar Games hit is not yet available, which has greatly upset some players, but at least one developer is very happy about it.

In an interview with IGN, Arrowhead Game Studios boss Shams Jorjani explained that the presence of a PC version of GTA VI and a new GTA Online would significantly impact the user base of other games, including his Helldivers 2:

Rockstar makes insane, super-expensive projects, and it's great that such games are released at all. On a selfish level, I'm glad it won't be released immediately on PC and that the online mode won't be launched [at the release of GTA VI]. This means that Helldivers 2 will continue to dominate its segment, and [GTA VI] will not become the all-consuming monster that everyone fears.

Jorjani also noted that the strength of the Rockstar Games brand allows developers to take their time and do things as they see fit. This, according to him, "raises the bar":

Now the entire industry is constantly changing strategies and is focused on early feedback from players just to survive. But Rockstar has enough brand power not to rush, but to play by its own rules. They have the confidence and freedom to spend ten years working the old-fashioned way because they know: the basic game will work. This will definitely raise the bar.

GTA VI is expected to be released on November 19 this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Nothing has been reported yet about the release window for the PC version.
