Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Russian localization released - the translation was ported from PS3, and there's an AI-localized version

The localization issue was resolved by the community.

In late August, KONAMI released the “Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2” for modern consoles and PC, which included several games from the franchise.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, originally released on PlayStation 3 in 2008, was part of the collection. Although the game's store page description was translated, it never received an official Russian localization.

An enthusiast named Salmonix decided to fix this and published a machine translation — below are some examples of Metal Gear Solid 4 localization on PC:

Salmonix's Russian localization is already publicly available online.

Meanwhile, a user named MeGaPk reported that they ported the PS3 translation using AI tools, but there are nuances:

I used AI to port it from the PS3 version to PC. I only ported the subtitles in cutscenes and in-game. That's enough for me. It seems to work fine on PC. The menu is in English [...] In theory, it should also work on Steam Deck.

MeGaPk explained that there were difficulties in porting the translation, and he lacks sufficient knowledge to fix everything:

I asked the AI to port it completely, but then a lot of gibberish appears in places. The AI can't handle it, and I lack knowledge of how this works [...]
