The "Grand Theft Auto VI: Extended Showcase" presentation recently took place. Players got to see the PlayStation 5 version, and while some were thrilled, others were actively complaining.
GTA VI will feature two protagonists: Lucia and Jason. Some users, like RetroNationX, are very unhappy with the representation of the male character. They consider him poorly written and blame female screenwriters for it:
What's wrong with this Jason? Was he written by people who are out of touch with reality? Throughout the entire trailer, he shows no individuality whatsoever. He looks like a secondary character, just Lucia's servant. His voice is annoying. He has no masculine aura at all. What were they thinking?
Enraged players began searching for the "root cause of the problem" with Jason and started attacking Rockstar female employees on social media. For example, Sara Lazzeroni came under fire – no one was bothered by the fact that she is a 3D artist and is not involved in scripting/dialogue. As a result, she had to restrict access to her profile:
Okay, unfortunately, I had to block comments on posts. Thank you all for the incredible support and the huge amount of positive feedback on "Grand Theft Auto VI: Extended Showcase." Unfortunately, a few unpleasant comments can spoil all the joy, and I'm not going to tolerate insults against female game developers.
GTA VI is expected to be released on November 19 this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Rockstar Games and Take-Two have not yet announced anything about the PC version's release window.
