“The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” has remained one of the main benchmarks for RPG creators for over a decade. CD Projekt RED's game influenced not only players' expectations of open worlds and side quests, but also the work of developers of other major series.
After the gamescom Opening Night Live ceremony, Final Fantasy 7 Remake director Naoki Hamaguchi called the opportunity to share a stage with representatives of one of his favorite games “a great honor.” In a conversation with CD Projekt President Michał Nowakowski, the Japanese developer added that The Witcher 3 still remains one of his main sources of inspiration.
The sympathy turned out to be mutual. One of The Witcher 4 level designers replied that Final Fantasy 7 holds a special place in his heart. The meeting at gamescom became an exchange of compliments between the teams working on two of the biggest RPG series.
