Tetsuya Nomura told Famitsu magazine that the high level of detail in the locations required a compromise: there will be fewer worlds in the new installment, but each will receive much more detail.
The scale of the game is also evident in the script – it was originally almost twice as long as the text for Kingdom Hearts IV. There was so much material that even Nomura couldn't include all the planned elements in the game. The Japanese voice acting is already complete, and the English version is about 60–70% ready. The recently shown world based on the animated film "Coco" is just a small part of the content that will be presented later.
Kingdom Hearts IV is expected to be released in late 2027. The game has already entered its final development stage. Tai Yasue stated that the work is progressing better than on any previous installment. Fans will have to wait for the next reveal: the team is focused on completing the project.
