Counter-Strike: Global Offensive appeared almost by accident - it all started with Xbox 360

About 12 TB of files have been leaked from Valve, and the community is already studying their contents. Among the findings was an unusual build of Counter-Strike: Source, created during the development of the Xbox 360 version of the game.

In 2010, Hidden Path Entertainment began porting CS: Source to Microsoft's console. The developers modified the game to adapt the controls for a gamepad. Valve liked these changes so much that it eventually led to CS: GO, which was released in 2012 on Xbox 360 and PS3.

The discovered version occupies an intermediate position between the PC version of Source and the console GO. It features a redesigned interface with a circular buy menu, console icons, and the beginnings of integration with the Xbox Live Marketplace. There is also aim assist, which was not present in the PC version.

The console GO was not successful. The game was criticized for 30 fps and inconvenient controls. Valve did not release functional updates for it and abandoned further development of the version with the transition to a new generation of consoles.
