PlayStation Boycott Ends - Now Fans Are Urged Not to Turn On PS5

News 1

Sony has not yet reacted to the user protest. The campaign began on August 23 and ended on August 30 at 7:00 PM local time. Participants were urged not to turn on their PS5s, not to play, and not to buy anything from the PlayStation Store.

The reason was Sony's plan to stop producing physical game editions starting in January 2028. The organizers consider the past week only a minimum period and now propose to continue the boycott indefinitely.

Representatives of Does It Play stated:

We urge everyone to continue the protest indefinitely until Sony changes its approach. We must go all the way, otherwise we will achieve nothing.

Sony has not officially responded to the protest. However, the company previously informed investors that it does not foresee a negative impact of potential boycotts on its business.

The real impact of the campaign will be known after the next financial report. Continuing the boycott will become increasingly difficult: upcoming releases include The Blood of Dawnwalker, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Marvel’s Wolverine, Control Resonant, and GTA VI.
