Recently, PC gamers gained access to the NVIDIA DLSS 5 library. The necessary files were extracted from the NBA 2K27 basketball simulator. After that, the technology began to be applied to a wide variety of games, and not only modern GeForce RTX 50 series video cards were used for launching, but also older models RTX 20, RTX 30, and RTX 40.
Performance was sometimes very, very poor: in some cases, one could literally observe a frequency of 1-5 FPS. Modders are gradually developing tools, and a user under the nickname ShortFuse shared a new build of "nvngx_dlssnr.dll" for older video cards.
It is positioned as an accelerator for RTX 20 ("RTX20 speed boost") — on these video cards, DLSS 5 should work better. Owners of RTX 30 also joined the tests.
Initial experiments showed certain improvements, but projects are far from always "playable." For example, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you can expect 14 FPS on a PC with an RTX 2060 level video card. In Cyberpunk 2077 on an RTX 3080 Ti at 1080p, the situation is better: you can get about 50 frames.
In the case of the RTX 3080, the user got 25 FPS in the game; he did not specify the settings.
NVIDIA DLSS 5 has also reached PlayStation 2 games — thanks to the PCSX2 emulator.
Some game developers are also experimenting with DLSS 5.
