Nightmare for AI-sceptics: Kingdom Come: Deliverance II creator explains that "everyone already" uses AI in development

News 6

Currently, various specialists openly use artificial intelligence for game development. However, some players react aggressively to this, immediately labeling a project as "AI-slop" if they notice signs or mentions of AI.

However, as Daniel Vavra, the creator of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, recently explained, "all developers" are now using AI — some just prefer not to talk about it, and players don't notice.

He also noted that "boycotting his projects" due to his stance on AI won't work:

Just so you know: I don't work for any studio. I'm not making any game. So there's no one for you to boycott, guys :) I'm retired now, drinking whiskey and having a great time, so I don't care. This whole AI situation is really funny. A very loud group of people hates it, and absolutely every developer is scared to death that they'll attack them, so everyone swears they definitely don't use any AI. But what's the reality? Of course, EVERYONE uses it! Every single one! Absolutely every developer from the many companies I've talked to in the last year uses AI.

Daniel Vavra explained that "programmers can't do anything without it" now. According to him, developers create AI tools for almost everything:

AI can generate high-quality character models, it helps animators, it's used by concept artists, 3D artists, writers, and designers... Experiments, text writing, idea development, concepts... Even people who can't code use it to create tools that programmers never had time for. And [artificial intelligence] is used for AI — for NPC AI :)

Currently, Daniel Vavra, like many PC gamers, is experimenting with the NVIDIA DLSS 5 library. He really likes how the technology improves the visuals in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.
