In the US, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Sony, accusing the company of failing to warn buyers about the temporary nature of digital licenses. In response, Sony's lawyers stated that "no one is so naive as to think that a digital game is their property."
The company also gave an example: if a buyer truly became the owner of a digital copy, another user would no longer be able to purchase the same game in the store, as the rights to it would belong to the first buyer.
The dispute is related to California laws, which require sellers of digital content to clearly warn that access to it may be revoked. The plaintiffs want to replace the "Buy" button in the PS Store with wording about acquiring a license. Sony believes that all necessary information is already stated in the user agreement.
