For several weeks, Sony has been receiving criticism over its plans to abandon physical releases. Players regularly demand that games remain on discs, leaving comments under PlayStation posts.
The company has introduced a new anti-harassment policy. It covers threats, insults, intimidation, discrimination, and attacks on employees. At the same time, Sony also reserves the right to respond to “persistent and repeated or prolonged demands,” requests unrelated to products or services, and direct appeals to employees.
For violating the rules, Sony may restrict or completely block access to customer support. In serious cases, the company allows cooperation with law enforcement and legal actions, including criminal proceedings.
However, Sony has not stated that it will sue players for the demands to keep discs themselves. The company has not yet clarified how exactly the new rules will be applied and whether they will affect participants in the protest against the abandonment of physical releases.
