Nintendo Surprises Fans: Nine-Year-Old Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Gets Major Update for Switch 2

Nintendo has released update 4.0.0 for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, adding improved graphics, support for eight players, CameraPlay, and races on all 96 tracks to the Switch 2.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was released on Nintendo Switch in 2017, and Nintendo continues to develop the hit nine years later. Update 4.0.0 is specifically prepared for Switch 2.

On the new console, image quality on the screen and high-resolution TVs has been improved, and loading times before races and battles have become shorter.

Up to eight players can now participate in local multiplayer on one screen. CameraPlay support has also been added, allowing the camera to show players' faces during gameplay and online matches with GameChat.

Nintendo has increased the base speed of racers by an amount equal to the bonus from one coin, and "Boo" no longer slows the player down when driving off-track.

Owners of the Booster Course Pass have received the "96 Races" mode, allowing them to complete all 96 tracks from the game and expansions in a single run.
