In early September, Valve introduced a small update for the Steam client with a new feature, as well as various improvements for Remote Play and more.
The developers talked about a feature that allows you to switch accounts while a game is running. When using this feature, players will be warned in a dialog box that switching accounts will close running games.
The account selection window now includes the option "Ask which account to use every time Steam starts".
Valve noted that "in most cases" the account switch confirmation window is no longer shown. If Steam is already running, switching accounts now immediately displays the account selection window, and then restarts with login to the desired account.
Some other improvements and innovations:
- (Remote Play) Added HDR streaming support for Steam Deck OLED.
- Fixed an issue where a game would sometimes remain in the download queue after being uninstalled.
- Messages with suspicious content will now be marked in group chats. By clicking on this mark, players can report messages, block the sender, or hide the warning.
- On Linux, the cause of a crash that occurred when suspending and resuming the device after disconnecting a controller was fixed.
- In Big Picture mode, a bug was fixed where a one-pixel-high strip would sometimes appear above the main screen's top bar.
