At the end of August, the "Grand Theft Auto VI: Extended Showcase" presentation took place. Rockstar Games showed players gameplay moments. The wanted system caught the attention of some players: in the new installment of the franchise, virtual police can identify a criminal by their car, appearance, and clothing.
Soon after the GTA VI gameplay demonstration, a modification was released that will allow PC gamers to experience this system in action in Grand Theft Auto V.
andre500 ported the main mechanics of the system – now the player is remembered and will be sought even after the wanted stars are removed. The modder explained how it works:
After receiving wanted stars, the police remember the player's face, clothes, and vehicle. After the wanted level is cleared, cops continue to search for the player based on these descriptions. A part of the map will be marked with a "red circle," dark red wanted stars will appear on the screen, and directly below them – a description of the player's appearance. Any encounter with the police in the "red zone" will lead to the re-activation of the wanted level.
To reduce the risk of re-entering the "wanted list," the player needs to change their car and clothes. However, changing outfits and vehicles does not cancel the "police know your face" status – it wears off automatically: it will last from one in-game day to a week, depending on the number of stars received. The number of stars will also affect the size of the zone.
When encountering the police in the "red zone," they will not immediately chase the hero: players will have a short period of time to escape. The "wanted" level is calculated separately for each character.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19 this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Nothing has been reported yet about the PC version's release window.
