Back in June, information appeared online that LEGO Group might release a “Sony PlayStation 1 Console” set in 2026. And it seems the rumors have been confirmed: user Brick Tap published two images showing the box of the new construction set.
According to his data, these images are official and showcase the LEGO PlayStation 1 in all its glory: the set includes one controller, an opening disc drive, and two hidden compartments with dioramas. One diorama is dedicated to Ape Escape, and the other to Gran Turismo, two iconic PS1 games.
Brick Tap claims that the set is called “72306 Sony PlayStation,” consists of 1911 pieces, will retail for $160 (13,887 rubles), and will be released on October 1, 2026. This means that an official announcement is likely to happen very soon.
The advantage of such a set is that you can not only open the disc drive to look inside at the dioramas but also slide them out to view them completely. The Gran Turismo scene depicts a small race track, and Ape Escape features a tropical map with a small figure resembling those famous monkeys. There are even special parts with the game's logo and title.
The controller itself can be detached from the console, the Eject and Power buttons are pressable, and, without a doubt, a couple of Easter eggs are hidden deep within the set that have not yet been revealed.
