33 years later, Star Fox can be played on PC at 480 FPS - a fan-made port of the game has been released

The classic supports various FPS options and modern resolutions.

Recently, players once again remembered the classic Star Fox for Super Nintendo Entertainment System, which was released in 1993. Modders announced the public release of alpha version 0.0.4 of the Star Fox Enhanced project - an unofficial native PC port of the space rail shooter.

Modders reported that this PC port of Star Fox Enhanced supports various frame rates, with options for: 20, 30, 60, 90, 120, 240, 360, or 480 FPS. At the same time, the game logic (collisions, damage, animations, bosses, scripts, etc.) will be calculated at the original frequency of 20 Hz.

The game can be played on various screens - 4:3, 16:9, 16:10, 21:9, and 32:9. Smooth motion is ensured by using interpolation during image output.

The main version of the Star Fox Enhanced project is designed for the Windows 64-bit operating system, but there are also configurations for building on other platforms, including configurations for building Nintendo Switch and PlayStation Vita.

The source code for the "starfox-enhanced" project is publicly available on GitHub in the kandowontu repository. By default, the setting is set to 60 FPS.
