Onimusha unexpectedly surpassed Resident Evil 2 and Street Fighter 6 on Steam

Onimusha: Way of the Sword had a successful launch on Steam, reaching a peak of 81,559 players - more than Resident Evil 2 and Street Fighter 6.

A full-fledged new Onimusha was released 20 years after the last installment, which appeared on PlayStation 2 in 2006. During this time, several console generations have changed, and Capcom has released many Resident Evil games.

Despite fans' concerns, the series' return proved successful. Onimusha: Way of the Sword was only surpassed in peak online players by Devil May Cry 5, which reached 88,894 players.

For a series that many remembered since the PlayStation 2 era, the result was particularly strong. For comparison:
