The translator known as "Govoryashchiy Kot" (Talking Cat) announced in September the release of a Russian localization for one of Hideo Kojima's cult games – Snatcher. "Kot" was one of the translators in the "KALINKA" project:
I hasten to inform you about the release of a new translation of a game by the brilliant Buryat H. Kojima for the MSX2 platform - SNATCHER. It's doubly pleasant to report this, as I also had the opportunity to participate in this project. The lion's share of the work was done by Igor Bezhenar, who is also the leader, hacker, programmer, and simply a good person).
Snatcher is a cyberpunk adventure game developed by Konami in 1988. The localizers stated that it was first translated by Fudeba Software in 2003 into English and Portuguese: "The game received a Russian translation in 2023, and the patch itself was released in 2026."
The project participants were:
- Igor Bezhenar — game and manual translation and editing, coding, graphics
- Govoryashchiy kot — manual rework, restoration, translation and editing; game cartridge prototype manufacturing and testing
- Shurrick — main game and manual editing
- Alexey Chentsov — development of a loader with equipment type selection for the cartridge version
Recently, "Govoryashchiy Kot" also presented a Russian localization for another classic project – he recalled the beat 'em up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time. He translated the Japanese version of the game, which includes additional lines not present in the American version.
