The creator of Silent Hill's Pyramid Head sacrificed his personal life for games

Recently, artist Masahiro Ito, known for his work on the Silent Hill games, spoke out again on social media. He said he regrets his decision to sacrifice his personal life for his career.

The artist noted that for eight years he was immersed in working on the first three Silent Hill games and during that time he never went on a date with a girl, working on weekends instead. Now he feels that if he had met someone and gotten married back then, he would have been happier:

During those 8 years I spent developing Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3 at Konami, I gave up trying to get a girlfriend. I never even went on a date. I sacrificed weekends and slept on cardboard boxes spread on the floor [...] Honestly, lately I've been thinking: if I hadn't sacrificed my personal life, and had found a girlfriend and gotten married when I was young, I probably would have been happier.

User resonmon decided to encourage him:

Ito-san, you can still find your happiness, and you deserve happiness. I pray for your well-being.

Masahiro Ito replied that he sometimes sees couples with small children and envies them a little:

I'm 54 now, haha, so I've pretty much given up on the idea of getting married. Still, when I see people with their little children in supermarkets or similar places, looking like they're really happy, I feel a little envious.
