Elden Ring fixed a bug that allowed duplicating items from the premium DLC Tarnished Pack

News 0

In late August, FromSoftware introduced Elden Ring on the Nintendo Switch 2 console. Simultaneously, the premium expansion Tarnished Pack was released for all platforms.

The DLC pack includes two new starting classes, new armor, and a customization feature for Torrent's appearance. Players will be able to use the content in the main Elden Ring, as well as in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.

Soon, users discovered a multiplayer bug that allowed duplicating items from the Tarnished Pack — thus, DLC owners could transfer items to those who did not have the expansion.

FromSoftware noticed this and prepared patch 1.17.1, which is designed to fix the error:

This update addresses an issue in multiplayer where, under certain conditions, items from expansions could be obtained without entitlement.

FromSoftware specifically clarified that patch 1.17.1 for Elden Ring is a purely technical update — no new content was added to the game.

Some players, like AnxiousNeck, took the opportunity to once again criticize the premium DLC:

In other words, someone found out how to get the Tarnished DLC content, which sells for $5, for free. It should have been free anyway. Charging $5 for a few items is FromSoftware's biggest [reputational] failure in a long time.
