Microsoft is testing a major update for Xbox Series X|S that improves Remote Play, game downloads, voice chat, and the console interface.
The new features are already available to Xbox Insider program participants. Users will be able to choose console startup animations with themes from different Xbox generations, from Xbox One to modern devices, and also enable sound separately.
The main change concerns Remote Play: Microsoft is testing streaming at up to 1440p resolution with increased bitrate, which should improve image clarity and game smoothness on supported devices. An additional subscription for this feature is still not required.
Also, game or update downloads can now continue in the background during cloud gaming, if the connection allows. The Voice Clarity feature is enabled by default in group chats and most games since 2020, reducing background noise and making voices clearer.
The update is complemented by local search for games and achievements, the ability to highlight up to five earned badges in the profile, and hide individual designations.
