Dragon Age: Origins Fans Want to Do BioWare's Job - They Started Fixing PC Version Bugs

News

If successful, the game will fully support gamepads and cooperative campaigns.

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition has been on the market for many years. However, the PC version has a number of technical issues that BioWare has never addressed.

Currently, BioWare is busy working on a new Mass Effect, and it's hard to expect the developers to return to the old game. But there are fans who intend to fix the PC version themselves. This month, a representative of the Shot_Let_1344 team reported on the progress in decompiling Dragon Age: Origins:

I'm one of the developers working on the DA:O decompilation, and we're very excited to announce that we've already decompiled 60% of the game! This is a huge milestone on the way to being able to make changes to the game: add 64-bit system support, fix engine bugs, potentially implement multiplayer and cooperative campaigns, and official controller support on PC!

Shot_Let_1344 explained that the decompilation of Dragon Age: Origins is currently being conducted privately, as "we believe there are detractors in the community more interested in improving their own reputation than in helping our project."

The project's creators do not want to clutter it with AI-generated materials. At the current pace, they expect to reach 90% decompilation of Dragon Age: Origins in about a year, after which they will publish the materials in open access.
