CD Projekt RED is currently preparing a story expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt called Songs of the Past. Various details about the project are gradually being revealed.
In a recent interview, the developers discussed their work on the expansion. Doug Cockle, the actor who voices Geralt in the English version, also participated in the conversation. The plot of Songs of the Past will be variable: with different story development options, access to new events will open up.
The developers did not specify the playtime of the expansion:
We try not to compare the sizes of DLCs by playtime because it's always difficult – you know, it all depends on what type of player you are: whether you only play the main storyline; or you explore the story, side quests, and open-world content; and you can also load your saves to see all the story development options, as we really love creating non-linear games. So the final numbers will vary greatly. But we have already said that in terms of volume, the DLC is comparable to Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone.
The decisions made by the player can affect the playtime of the expansion – speeding it up or slowing it down. The CD Projekt RED team has not yet revealed specific details about Songs of the Past.
The remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is expected on September 29th of this year, while the Songs of the Past expansion has only received a release window – the DLC is planned for release in 2027.
