How weapons will work in "War of the Worlds: Siberia": a new development diary
"War of the Worlds: Siberia" received its 14th development diary, dedicated to shooting historical weapons, the combat system, and 19th-century costumes.
Together with actress Alexandra Milyoshina and gaming blogger Alexey Lutsay, the "War of the Worlds: Siberia" team visited the "Garrison-Film" film studio, where they tested weapons from the game and tried on historical costumes.
The video talked about the Double Derringer, Smith & Wesson and Nagant revolvers, a double-barreled shotgun, a Mosin rifle, a Baranovsky cannon, and a Maxim machine gun. Game designer Georgy Mironov explained the principles of the combat system and weapon balance. For example, the Smith & Wesson requires manual cocking before firing, while the Nagant can be fired immediately after pressing the button, although it takes longer to reload.
After playtests, ammunition of different calibers was grouped by weapon type – pistols, rifles, shotguns, and others. This should reduce the time spent searching for and changing weapons and make the game more dynamic. The hosts also tried out a bayonet attack, which will appear in the game.
