Hideo Kojima's adventure stealth-action game Metal Gear Solid, released in 1998 and remade six years later as Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, has not lost its devoted fans.
Especially for them, photographer Kira Mitenkova prepared new shots. In them, cosplayer Lada Lyumos appeared as Sniper Wolf – one of the FOXHOUND renegades who participated in the uprising on Shadow Moses Island.
Wolf possesses an alluring yet stern appearance. She is a tall, slender young woman with luxurious blonde hair and piercing eyes. Her signature look is an unzipped green combat jumpsuit, emphasizing her femininity, and the ever-present Heckler & Koch PSG1 sniper rifle in her hands.
Despite her model-like appearance, her look conveys the chilling detachment of a person who sees the world exclusively through a scope. Wolf's character is woven from contradictions: the ruthlessness of a professional killer coexists with surprising vulnerability.
She can track a target for hours, even days, feeling no remorse at the moment of the shot. At the same time, she has a deep affection for wolves and dogs, which led her to flatly refuse to poison animals at the Shadow Moses base and even befriended them.
Her obsession with war and killing is a defense mechanism of a broken child who doesn't know how to live otherwise, and the tragic and emotional scene of this character's death made more than one generation of gamers cry. In combat, Sniper Wolf poses a deadly threat thanks to her unique survival skills and supreme marksmanship.
She can go weeks without food or movement in extreme cold, waiting for the perfect moment to attack. To fully control her body, suppress muscle tremors, and hold her aim perfectly steady, she regularly uses a powerful tranquilizer.
