First Details of Diablo V Revealed - Classes, Allies, World Generation, and Item System in the Spirit of Diablo II
After Diablo's victory, greed lost its meaning, and now the greedy goblin seeks a new purpose in life.
Shortly after the announcement of Diablo V, the Blizzard Entertainment team held a special stream, during which they talked about the project, showed the inventory, and also published various concepts.
According to the plot of Diablo V, Diablo wins. In the new installment of the franchise, players will be offered to become the heir of Westmarch and embark on a journey. The game world will be procedurally generated, so "the landscape, key areas, monsters, and rewards can change before your eyes":
Now Sanctuary is under Diablo's control, so cities and fortresses will no longer save you. Instead, you will have to gather a caravan of allies and set off on a campaign through the scorched wastelands.
Among the allies will be the former sister of the Unseen Eye, as well as "a lost greedy goblin who is looking for a new meaning in a world where greed has lost its meaning."
Currently, three Diablo V classes have been shown (there will be more):
- Demon Hunter — characters of this class are capable of "striking from the shadows and swiftly attacking a target in a leap, showering it with bolts from twin crossbows."
- Monk: "He is capable of beating demons with his bare hands and summoning the forces of Light to punish those who stand in his way."
- A completely new class — Plague Knight: "clever knights envelop the battlefield with sickness and blight, thereby fueling their powers."
In Diablo V, the developers will introduce an item system inspired by Diablo II. They also clarified that they are experimenting with gear stat requirements.
The arsenal will largely depend on the inventory system — large items will once again take up more space in bags. In addition, equipment sets are returning:
You will find a deep crafting system inspired by the mechanics of the Lord of Hatred expansion, as well as runes and runewords from Diablo II.
Diablo V is expected to be released in 2029. The early announcement was explained by the desire to involve players in the development process as early as possible — feedback will be studied.
