A new project in the StarCraft franchise was unveiled during BlizzCon 2026. It's not a real-time strategy game, but a game in a completely different genre.
StarCraft, which currently has no subtitle, is an open-world shooter with a focus on story. The debut cinematic trailer did not show any gameplay footage. Development is led by Dan Hay, known for his work on the latest numbered Far Cry installments.
The Xbox UK division commented on the StarCraft demonstration, confirming its release on "xbox console." Since the post used the phrasing "xbox console" rather than "consoles," some players speculate that the new StarCraft might only be released on next-generation consoles, without a release on Xbox Series X|S. Given Xbox's policy, the game should also appear on PC, while a release on PlayStation consoles is questionable.
It also became known that the new StarCraft is not a direct continuation of the RTS StarCraft II. Chronologically, events will take place 70 years later in the Koprulu sector.
Blizzard Entertainment has launched a website for the new StarCraft, where they published several screenshots. These are moments from the announcement promo video.
StarCraft currently has no specific release date. At the end of the trailer, the developers promised to "return in 2030."
