At BlizzCon 2026, the Blizzard Entertainment team shared plans for the development of current projects and made two major announcements of full-fledged new games. Diablo V and StarCraft (the game has no subtitle) are in development.
Initially, players were excited, but some soon began to analyze what happened — the release of these games will have to wait 3 and 4 years, respectively (if nothing changes and there are no delays).
Diablo IV players were greatly surprised by such an early announcement of a new game — they expected that seasons for the fourth installment would be released "as long as possible."
A user under the nickname Kakerman attributes this to changes in management. He suggests that new projects will be released more frequently, but they will be less innovative:
I think with the advent of the new Blizzard, this practice will become more common. The old Blizzard is long gone, and with it, the "when it's ready" development philosophy disappeared. Now the company is run by managers from the NFL [National Football League of the USA], whose goal is to make money from their biggest franchises. So expect more regular, but also more conservative releases [of new games], and they will appear more often.
StarCraft is expected in four years, which surprised fans of the franchise no less than the announcement itself: "2030... what... the... isn't it too early for an announcement?"
Some players are now joking that Blizzard Entertainment might have been taught by a colleague from Bethesda Game Studios.
Supra_1337: "Todd Howard definitely gave them advice on how to present this game."
The Elder Scrolls VI teaser was shown back in 2018, but it didn't specify a particular year.
Currently, TES VI still has no specific release date.
