Marvel’s Wolverine is receiving reviews with an average score of around 78–81%, although the game did not reach the level of PlayStation's main hits of recent years.
However, the project's budget turned out to be impressive – about $305 million. Insomniac Games spent more only on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, whose budget was estimated at $315 million. For comparison, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales cost $156 million, the first Marvel’s Spider-Man – about $90 million, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart – $81 million.
Marvel’s Wolverine is built as a linear game, not a huge open world. Part of the costs is associated with Insomniac Games' proprietary engine, the development of technologies and tools, as well as large-scale scenes, detail, and ray tracing effects.
