Nightdive hinted at the return of the horror game Eternal Darkness

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem might return in an updated form - Nightdive Studios head Stephen Kick hinted at a project related to the cult GameCube horror game.

The occasion was GameCube's 25th anniversary. Kick admitted that Eternal Darkness is one of his favorite games and deserves the kind of approach Nightdive Studios can provide. He then urged fans to stay tuned for upcoming installments of the "Deep Dives" series.

This was enough to spark rumors of an Eternal Darkness remaster. There is no official confirmation yet, and Kick's words might only indicate the studio's interest in the game.

This isn't the first hint of Nightdive's interest. Back in 2025, studio representatives said they would like to update Eternal Darkness, as they find it strange that such a highly-rated horror game remains a GameCube exclusive. Director Denis Dyack also has a positive view on its return.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is an unusual survival horror game with a Lovecraftian atmosphere, multiple eras, and heroes confronting supernatural forces. The game is particularly remembered for its sanity system, which could affect the player's perception.
