PS4 and PS5 received firmware updates - Sony enhanced security and improved PSSR is now enabled by default
In mid-September, Sony introduced firmware updates for its PlayStation consoles.
For PlayStation 4, everything is standard – developers used a general statement to describe the implemented improvements in version 14.00: "We have improved the performance and stability of the system software."
For PlayStation 5 and the Pro version of the console, update "26.06-14.00.00" was released, and it is more extensive. Sony announced that the "Enhance PSSR Image Quality" feature will now be enabled by default on PlayStation 5 Pro (it can still be disabled in the settings).
The developers noted that the improved version of PSSR will be used even in games that supported the previous PSSR, allowing players to "enjoy a sharper and clearer image."
In turn, dataminers reported that in firmware update 14.00.00, Sony developers enhanced the security of PlayStation 5. This happened amidst the growing popularity of emulation projects and the upcoming November release of Grand Theft Auto VI.
