Those who played The Witcher 3 remaster don't want to go back to the original version - CD Projekt RED producer shared his impressions

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remaster will be released this month. Developers are giving interviews and talking about working on the project, as well as sharing various details and thoughts.

In a recent conversation with PC Gamer, CD Projekt RED Executive Producer Jakub Kutrzuba explained that the massive next-gen update, released several years ago, was created because there was a specific need at the time: "We wanted to bring the game to the new generation, and that update was largely technical in nature."

However, the current remaster, Kutrzuba says, will be even more extensive and affect more technical aspects, "perhaps even more than the previous update":

But most importantly, we are addressing aspects of the game that we haven't touched since its original release. This includes animations, gameplay, various quality-of-life improvements — how you actually play the game.

CD Projekt RED's approach to working on The Witcher 3 remaster was described by Kutrzuba as: "We wanted it [in terms of performance] to match any other game coming out these days."

The developers updated the animation system, worked on the camera, enemy behavior, and implemented various improvements. According to Kutrzuba, after the remaster, it's hard for developers to go back to the old version of the game: "These new improvements are so easy to get used to that it's very difficult to go back."

Nevertheless, CD Projekt RED will still allow players to roll back the game version if they wish.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remaster is expected to be released on September 29. A story expansion called Songs of the Past is planned for release next year.
