Square Enix hinted at a continuation of Final Fantasy VII after the trilogy's completion

Final Fantasy VII Revelation concluded the remake trilogy, and Square Enix does not rule out continuing the story - it all depends on player reaction to the final part.

Series producer Yoshinori Kitase noted that the team wants to make Revelation the best part of the trilogy. Currently, the game is considered the conclusion of the entire project, although the history of the original Final Fantasy VII shows that the popularity of the characters can change Square Enix's plans.

Kitase reminded that the creators of the original also considered their work finished, but the popularity of Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barret, and Sephiroth led to the emergence of new projects, including Advent Children and Crisis Core.

The situation may repeat itself. Kitase did not directly state plans for new FFVII games, leaving such a possibility open, linking it to player reaction to the trilogy's finale. For now, the main priority remains the release of Revelation.

At the same time, almost nothing is known about Final Fantasy XVII yet. Square Enix has not announced the next numbered installment, so after Revelation, the series may either continue the FFVII story or move to a completely new world, heroes, and mechanics.
