PS Plus to get more expensive again? Sony reportedly preparing sharp price hike

Sony is allegedly preparing a new price increase for all three tiers of PlayStation Plus, with subscriptions in Brazil potentially rising by 16-36%.

According to an alleged internal Sony message that appeared online, the company considers the May 2026 increase insufficient and is considering a new price hike before the end of the year. In Brazil, the cost of PS Plus Essential will allegedly increase from 49.90 to 67.90 reals, Extra from 74.90 to 97.90, and Deluxe (Premium) from 86.90 to 100.90 reals.

The increase may be around 36% for Essential, 31% for Extra, and 16% for Deluxe (Premium).

The message uses the phrase “strategic adjustment of perceived value.” Among the reasons cited are the global market situation and inflation. Existing subscribers will allegedly retain their current terms until the end of their paid period.

Sony has not yet announced a new price increase, so this information should be treated purely as a rumor.
