iFixit has published 18 repair guides for the Steam Machine, showing how to replace the SSD, RAM, power supply, motherboard, cooling, and other components of the Valve console.
The company, known for detailed repair instructions for electronics, has expanded its cooperation with Valve, which previously covered the Steam Deck. The guides cover both basic maintenance and complex disassembly of the device.
Separate instructions describe how to replace the front USB panel, power button, module with HDMI and DisplayPort, rear panel with USB and Ethernet, case, feet, and microSD reader.
Replacing the M.2 NVMe SSD is particularly interesting. The Steam Machine is equipped with a single slot compatible with 2230 and 2280 form factor drives. After installing a new drive, the user will separately need to restore or install SteamOS.
iFixit also showed how to open the Steam Machine and clean its components. The company does not yet sell individual parts for the console, but they should appear later. All guides are already available on the iFixit website.
