EA Canceled Fight Night's Return. Reboot Sent to the Bin

News 0

Virtual boxing fans have been waiting for a sequel to Fight Night Champion since 2011. In recent years, there have been regular reports of a possible return of the series, and development allegedly went beyond pre-production. Initially, the new installment was planned to be created after the completion of EA Sports UFC 6.

According to Insider Gaming, the previous reboot concept was canceled approximately a year ago. At that time, work on the game had already been suspended, so EA likely abandoned the project in its original form long ago. This does not yet mean the definitive demise of the series: if Fight Night does return, the game will be created from scratch.

A chance for the series could be the possible acquisition of EA by a group associated with the Saudi Public Investment Fund. Saudi Arabia actively invests in boxing, owns The Ring magazine, and organizes major fights. However, any investment must have a financial justification, especially considering the approximately $20 billion debt associated with the deal.
